It is a bright orange, plastic frisbee-like disc with 100-feet of yellow polyethylene rope attached. In the event of a water rescue, the disc can be sailed, like throwing a Frisbee, to a spot within reach of the victim, and the rope which is rated for a 500-lb load, used to pull the victim to safety. The disc has a 5-lb buoyancy which helps to hold the victim’s head and face above water while they are being rescued. Any USPS member can order and purchase one of these ResQ Discs for $45.00 which includes shipping and handling. This is a $15 discount off the price offered to the public.
The Fort Vancouver Sail and Power Squadron can order these discs in case quantities of 12 discs at a further reduced cost. The Squadron is offering to purchase these discs and sell them to our members for $40 each.
