Boating Classes on the Horizon.

ADVANCED PILOTING. April 9, 2013 at 7PM. 865 NE Tomahawk Is. Drive, 97217, The second in the sequence of USPS courses on navigation. It continues to build coastal and inland navigation skill, allowing the student to take on more challenging conditions – unfamiliar waters, limited visibility, and extended cruises. GPS is embraced as a primary navigation tool while adding radar, chartplotters, and other electronic navigation tools.  .  The class will run for 10 weeks with homework.  Contact Steve at 503 543 3083 for additional details.  To pre-register click here.

JUNIOR NAVIGATION. Sometime in February 2014, 855 Northeast Tomahawk Island Drive Portland, OR 97217. A 9 week class on coastal navigation begins your study of offshore navigation. Learn to use integrated electronic positioning systems, sight taking on celestial bodies with a mariner’s sextant, and positioning & passage planning with special open-ocean charts. This is a new format and a much less complex presentation of the material.... it is way more FUN AND INTERESTING now. To pre-register click here

Washington State Boater Education Card requirement will be phased in from 2008 to 2014. The cards are now being issued. All operators of boats having motors of 15 horsepower or greater are required to have their Boater Safety Education Card, click on the card to see when this the law will apply to you or your family members. You can also download an application there.


ResQ Disc
An advertisement appeared in the Spring 2010 edition of United States Power Squadrons magazine, The Ensign offering the ResQ Disc to USPS members at a reduced price of $45.00 which includes shipping and handling..

The Fort Vancouver Sail and Power Squadron can order these discs in case quantities of 12 discs at a further reduced cost. The Squadron is offering to purchase these discs and sell them to our members for $40 includes shipping and handling.. USPS Seminars - Basic Chart Reading, Using a GPS, VHF-DSC Marine Radios and On Board Weather Forecasting Seminars are available for your group. Lady Skippers Luncheon - Lady Skippers meet the second Thursday of the month.  There are no meetings in July, August, September and January. Check the squadron calendar for the location of our next meeting.

General Meetings- Are normally held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. There are no meetings in June, July or August. Check our squadron calendar for the date and details of the next meeting.
